Who's a FOODIE?

  First let me state I am not an english major; however I am looking to improve so all the mistakes i make please let me know.

  Seriously everyone loves food. I did not truly enjoy eating until I started to bake and cook myself. Honestly I love eating but in my late 20's I started to truly cook and bake and taste. The delectable delights; sometimes not so delightful more like ..I wonder if the dog will eat it? would be prepared and tasting each morsel of flavor made me appreciate going out to restuarants more. When Flavours dance around on my tongue I know two things. First, I will either prepare this again or order again & second, how long do I have to spend on the treadmill to work of all these woonderful flavors! 

  I have an Uncle that is zany amoungst other things. He was lucky enough to find a southern ball of fury for a wife. Ball of fury; this women knew how to cook. This year 2016 we got news that she joined the kingdom of Heaven. I think God must have said to himself, "Michael has got to taste her magestical creations long enough, its now my turn.". This being said her legacy will live on through her laughter & recipes. 

 

Aunt Kelly's Cobbler

 

1/2 stick butter

1 cup self rising flour

1 cup sugar

1 cup milk

Fruit ( canned pie filling or fresh) 

 

Melt butter in a 9x13 pan, Mix flour, sugar,milk until smooth and pour over melted butter. Add fruit on top, bake at 350 for 30- 40 minutes or until golden brown.

 

serve hot with ice cream

 

Optional: heat 1/4 stick of butter in microwave, add 2 tbsp brown sugar. Stir to melt & pour in 3/4 rolled oats, 1/4 cup walnuts. It will be crumbly. Sprinkle over cobbler last 10 minutes of baking.

 

  My absolute favorite is adding apple pie filling and serving with pumpkin ice cream. its like the ultimate taste of fall. As you can tell butter plays a big roll in this recipe (NOT margarine). I suppose you can say thats the southern way, but now a days I think its the homesteaders way.

 

  Let me know what you think. My Aunt Kelly is up there cooking up heavenly creations and I think the kingdom of Heaven just got a bit sweeter because of her.
